Legacy Golf Day and Dinner, Saturday November 20th 2010.
Another successful day, celebrating Legacy and their long association with The Bowral Golf Club.
As the bugle sounded Michael Fitzgerald directed the Flag Ceremony with Pip Smith RAAF, Austen Richardson RAN and John Cummins Army, handling the respective flags and ensigns.
BGC was pleased to host many Legacy executives & members, military personnel, golf club members & guests. The Guest of Honour was Tony Barber, entertainer, television personality, and a golfer. Tony attended the Royal Australian Naval College with a past President of the local Legacy Division and a former board member of the BGC, David Farthing.
Grant Blanchard welcomed guests to the Bowral Golf Club. Philip Badcock, President of the Berrima District Legacy welcomed all including the President of Sydney Legacy, Peter Rouch. Philip emphasised the importance of the work of Legacy and the big contribution that fund raising on a local level makes to the community. David Farthing introduced Tony, then it was time for Tony Barber to entertain, which he did with style and humour.
The day was executed with military precision...great golf...great hospitality, not forgetting Geoffrey Hammond's Half-way-house at the 5th green, great company and yes, great weather!
And a great outcome for Legacy!
(John Jones advises that almost $4,000 was raised.)
The bugler, David Hughes from E.Bowral has performed the Last Post and Reveille for the past 5 years. He is now a student at the Australian Institute of Music.
